If anyone of you guys watched scrubs, you'd be familiar with J.D's imagination as he always does when someone says something interesting. I always have these moments when someone says something, a picture pops into my head. So the other day, I was sitting in front of my pc at work, thinking of the stuffs I could do at home. I had one of those moments, i was thinking about immortality.
What if, in the future, we could use the phrase "forever 21" and it actually means something. That age will not be a barrier, and no one would fear death for it will be non existent. What would the world become. Would it be a better outcome or would it destroy us all? If you have the chance to be like what you are now forever, would you? You'd keep your youth, which most tend to lose once we reach adulthood. You be young forever, you could do things in 50 years that you were not suppose to. You can have more time for more things, more goals to accomplish. Time will not be a limit, 24 hours a day will mean nothing, for you have eternity.
If mankind can live forever, it could change everything. If mankind can live forever, precious earth resources will continue to be used. When the last drop of petroleum has been mined, humans will think of a way to create new fuel sources, this will result in new advancement in technology. In a few years time, someone would have created a new type of transportation. We would have discover and built a machine for teleportation. Lightspeed can be achieved and we would be in touch with other races in the galaxy. Maybe at that time, there would be a international galaxy federation, earth would be invited to join because we have achieved the speed of light. Next thing you know, it's just like you're in a star wars movie, light sabers will be a reality, space travel if like travelling to the next town.
Poof! Back to reality, my boss just walked pass me. If only we could live in our imaginations.
Turn on your TV's ! (or torrents). The season has ended. For the summer, you would have nothing really interesting to watch. Though, i would be looking forward to Psych if it returns. The following shows have already had their season finale.
1. Grey's Anatomy This was a great season for Grey's. Izzie suffers from cancer as Meredith and Sheperd takes the next step. We still see the other side of Callie Torres as she dates Arizona. Hunt and Christina were together but Hunt nearly killed her because he has post war trauma. It was an emotional roller coaster. I left the finale to the weekends because it's a two hour special. Can't wait!
2. Supernatural Lucifer has risen. Where would the story go now? The angels were actually trying to raise Lucifer while Castiel didn't agree and wasn't on the rebels side. Lilith was the final seal and Ruby was actually playing Sam to make him kill Lilith. It was a great season for Dean and Sam Winchester. Looking forward to the next season!
3.Lost I haven't caught up with Lost for a while now but the last episode i saw was Ben was judged by the island and her dead daughter appeared, asking him to not hurt John Locke or she will kill him. It's getting less draggy and i'd be finishing it soon.
4. Heroes I have not watched Heroes for this season as it was getting kinda draggy and boring. Though i have the complete season and will watch when i have the time.
5. Fringe My favourite show, alongside with Supernatural, The Mentalist, Lost and Grey's. If you love mysteries and the impossible in the world of science like teleportaion, mind reading, dark matter, human experiments, this is a must watch. You'd be a fan in an instant!
American Dad and Family Guy also wrap up their seasons last Sunday. The last episode of American Dad is funny as hell while Family Guy was so-so. Most of the series are going to end soon such as The Mentalist, How I Met Your Mother, Two And A Half Man and much more.
The show i'd be looking forward during the break would be TOP GEAR ! My favourite automotive program returning on June 21st!
I guess it's time for bed. I will end this post with a song. Some of you would have never heard of this band, but they are good. Feature on Grey's Anatomy Season 5 Epi 20.
Yesterday, Manchester United failed to secure a win against Arsenal in a poor, sloppy game. The game ended 0-0 at 90mins. The thing is, after that, everyone started celebrating, even though they drawed at Old Trafford. Well, if you haven't been following the Barclays Premier League, then here's an update for you.
MANCHESTER UNITED
08/09 BARCLAYS PREMIER LEAGUE CHAMPIONS
For the third consecutive time Manchester United have battled away competition to secure the Premier League Trophy. Liverpool did gave us a good run but we battled our way till the end, although from the bigger picture, we had been on top of the table for quite a while with one game in hand. There is still one more game to play, which is against Hull City. That would decide whether Hull City get's relegated or not. Here is the current table standings.
As you can see, even if Liverpool (Out of respect for pool fans, i shall use their rightful name) win the next two games, we'd be one point ahead. So it's consider job done for the season. Next stop would be the Champions League final against Barcelona!!
This picture was grabbed from LYN. This was from way back when Liverpool were in their glory days. One of their fans had put up this banner. Well, look at the statistics below,
Currently, Manchester United has succesfully halted Liverpool's train to catch up with 18 Premier League titles. What has Liverpool been doing all those years? I can only say that Sir Alex Ferguson is the best manager out there and he has done his job brilliantly to guide the team to glory. We are back with 18 titles, and as Sir Alex says, we'd be gunning for the 19th. Now, Manchester United is No. 1 Domestic team in England! Take that Rafa Bunnytez!
Here's the official wallpaper from manutd.com. You can get it from manutd.com.
It has been a great season, a great effort. It has been ups and downs. Here's 11 moments that won United their hattrick. (Note, it's not by me)
1) Warning Shots
Following an average pre-season, which culminated in lifting the Community Shield by beating Portsmouth, and losing the UEFA Super Cup showdown with Zenit St. Petersburg, Manchester United started the season slowly. This was nothing new – they often take time to settle into a rhythm – but this season their rivals looked ready to challenge their dominance.
On September 13, Liverpool, whose Spanish contingent were fresh from Euro 2008 glory, beat them in the league for the first time since 2002. Making his debut, €33 million signing Dimitar Berbatov assisted Carlos Tevez's early opener, but a Wes Brown own goal and Ryan Babel's strike gave the Reds three points at Anfield. Chelsea followed, and Salomon Kalou cancelled out Park Ji-Sung's opener to steal a point.
2) Tame The Tigers
United continued to stutter and, come November 1, they welcomed Premier League newcomers Hull City to Old Trafford, shockingly trailing the Tigers by two points. A thrilling game ensued.
Cristiano Ronaldo combined with Dimitar Berbatov before opening the scoring after just three minutes, yet Hull managed to equalise. The Red Devils then raced into a three goal lead, but the visitors gave them a fright at the end, and the match finished 4-3 in favour of the giants. Sir Alex Ferguson's men had seen off the challenge of a group of plucky upstarts, but losing to Arsenal the next week left question marks all over United and their title defence.
3) Golden Boy
On December 2, Cristiano Ronaldo was awarded the Ballon d'Or for his performances in 2008. The Portuguese powerhouse was often struggling to reach the high standards he'd set during the previous season, so the Golden Ball came as a welcome boost.
With the January transfer window fast approaching, this recognition perhaps helped 'CR7' to put thoughts of Real Madrid out of his head. It had looked as though the winger would start the season at the Bernabeu, but now he was officially the best player in the world, and he'd done it as a Man Utd player.
4) Post-Christmas Blues
Hard-fought wins over Stoke City and Middesbrough followed an untimely, but successful, Club World Cup jaunt to Japan. The ability to gain these points despite a harsh schedule would stand United in good stead later in the season.
Ferguson had been predicting a massive post-Christmas improvement from his side, and they certainly started 2009 with a bang. Veteran Ryan Giggs started to come to the fore during a 3-0 pounding of Chelsea, although it was Nemanja Vidic, Wayne Rooney and Berbatov who bagged the goals.
This performance, as well as being full of creativity and authority, pulled United to within a point of Chelsea and five behind Liverpool, with two games in hand.
5) Back On Top
On January 17, after Berbatov's late winner at Bolton Wanderers, Man Utd went to the top of the Premier League pile for the first time during the campaign. It was the defence, and goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar, who were earning all the plaudits, however: the 1-0 win was their tenth clean-sheet in a row.
6) Nothing Lasts Forever
Newcastle United forward Peter Lovenkrands finally put the ball into Van der Sar's net on March 4, ending the Dutchman's stunning 1310 minute stretch without conceding. Centre-backs Vidic and Jonny Evans, who was usually covering for the injured Rio Ferdinand, took a massive amount of credit, but it was ultimately the strength of the entire team which made them unbreakable.
Nevertheless, United would respond instantly at St. James Park, with Rooney and Berbatov dragging their team back from the brink of defeat to win.
7) The Dip
The middle of March was a disastrous time for Manchester United. If there was to be no happy ending come May, then these two games against Liverpool and Fulham would have been considered the point at which it all went wrong.
Liverpool absolutely trounced them at Old Trafford, winning 4-1 after Vidic had been sent off amid an error-strewn display. The red mist descended again at Craven Cottage, where Paul Scholes and Rooney were dismissed en route to a shock 2-0 defeat at the hands of Fulham.
8) Introducing : Federico Macheda
Sir Alex Ferguson needed to find something special from somewhere if his troops were to fight their way to the title. Enter unknown 17-year-old Federico Macheda, who came off the bench to grab the winner against Aston Villa. The visitors had led with ten minutes remaining, but Ronaldo and Macheda secured a dramatic 3-2 victory.
They say lightning doesn't strike twice, but try telling that to Sunderland. Macheda took mere seconds to lift the Red Devils to a 2-1 win, when the three points had looked beyond them.
9) Showing Character
April 25 is a date that will likely stick in the memories of all who attended Old Trafford to watch United take on Tottenham Hotspur. Goals from Darren Bent and Luka Modric stunned the home crowd, but they responded to roar their side to a compelling second-half turnaround. Doubles from Ronaldo, Rooney and a final goal from Berbatov completed a stunning eventual 5-2 rout, although Spurs were aggrieved by some of the referee's decisions.
10) On The Brink
By May 13, Man Utd had shown that they were more than capable of winning ugly, winning spectacularly… winning by whatever means necessary. As they visited Wigan Athletic's JJB Stadium, they were four points from a third-successive title, and the nerves were evident. The hosts led at the break, and again United would have to do it the hard way to crush Liverpool's hopes of pipping them to first place.
Tevez – his future still hanging in the balance – became the latest inspired substitution as he skilfully flicked the leveller into the Wigan net, before Michael Carrick gracefully fired into the top corner with time running out. Another three points snatched from the jaws of failure, and now just one point away from getting their hands on the trophy…
11) Three-In-A-Row
Manchester United hosted Arsenal on May 16, kicking off the penultimate weekend of the season. With Rio Ferdinand injured, Ryan Giggs – previously awarded with the PFA Player of the Year gong – lead out the side, although it would be club captain Gary Neville who'd lift the famous trophy.
In truth it was a dour game, filled with broken-down attacks and scrappy play, but United fans couldn't care one jot as the 0-0 draw handed them their third successive title.
United thus equal Liverpool's record of 18 top-flight titles, and win an astonishing second Premier League hat-trick. For the legendary Sir Alex Ferguson, it's eleven wins as the legend continues to be written.
Today at work, I had a tummy ache. I stop what I was doing and drifted to the toilet to answer nature’s call. As I close the door, I saw that there was no toilet paper. So I went next door to get the toilet paper there and came back to my cubicle. As I made myself comfortable, my mind drifted away as my butt makes the music. Halfway through it, I was looking at the toilet paper. It got me thinking, it was only 10 in the morning and the toilet paper has already been used up. Through my observations, I’ve noticed that the toilet paper will be refilled twice a day. So I made some calculations. There are 26 floors in Bangunan AmBank. Each floor has two toilets, one for female and one for male. Inside the toilet there are 4 cubicles where each will have a roll of toilet paper.
Bangunan AmBank
• 26 Floors • 2 toilet each floor • 4 cubicle each toilet • 2 rolls of toilet paper each day.
So 26 floors X 2 toilets each floor is 52. 52 X 4 cubicles is 208. 208 X 2 rolls of toilet paper per day is 416 toilet paper used each day!
If we count the amount of toilet paper used in May itself, that would be 416 X 21 business days = 8736 toilet paper rolls for that month. Not inclusive of non-working days.
That’s only for one month. How many trees have been cut down for humans to waste like this? I sat that and ponder. There are so many buildings that have toilets that use toilet papers everyday. With that amount of toilet paper, I could TP the Petronas twin towers with no problems. From far you would see the twin towers cover in white toilet paper and that would be real fun. I could TP every single mall in Malaysia with the amount of toilet paper used each day. Every mall would be cover in all sorts of toilet paper from all kinds of brand and with all sorts of material. It would be like snowing in Malaysia.
My hands kept pulling the toilet paper as I finish my business. I continued to think that one day if humans do not have toilet paper, what would happen? The next thing I know, I had already used and threw a handful of toilet paper in the toilet bowl. Then I realized
I’m just one of them. I’m a big hypocrite.
So I washed my hands, and went back to work. It was just another day in the toilet.
*TP means to throw/decorate a place/object with toilet paper
So what’s it like being a working adult. I must say it is quite fun. Why do I say its fun is because I love what I do. I love looking at codes and trying to solve them. I love programming. Although I’m not really a good one but I do work hard at what I do. Maybe this is just the beginning as I’m still a trainee. Some people say that it’s better to enjoy college life. I feel that they both have pros and cons. In college you could do what ever you want, be who you want to be. Nobody cares about what you do, you enjoy life to the max. It’s like a disorganize folder. Unlike being a working adult, you start to get reorganize. You have to be responsible for your actions. Anything you do can affect you in a way. Of course, for some of us who likes to wake up late. It’s also a habit that needs to be thrown out when you are working. Unless you are the boss.
Currently the only thing I feel not satisfied about is because I’m not working in a software house. In a software house, you are the vendor. You are providing the software therefore there is more programming to be done. As working in a bank, we do not develop our own software. We buy it from the vendors. The only programming we do is simple stuffs like writing scripts and if-else. In the future, I would love to gain more experience by working in a software house so that I can be exposed to different kinds of knowledge. Working in this bank also has its advantage. By learning how to use the software, I could get a job next time at a bank that uses this software because I have experience in using it. It would definitely benefit me this way.
You ask me what working life is? Currently I’m enjoying it. We will see whether my mind changes in the next few months.
It has been two weeks plus since i first joined AmInvestment Bank as a trainee. Every morning, i wake up, wash up, dress up, drive to the LRT station, take a train to Terminal Putra to avoid the daily congestion, a 25min train to Dang Wangi, pick up a copy of the Sun, walk over and switch to Monorail to Raja Chulan, a 10 minute walk to reach Bangunan AmBank. When i reach there, i look like i just ran a marathon. Take the elevator to the 14th floor, enter the office, sit down, cool down, take out my breakfast, make a cup of milo, and read the Sun till it's 8.45AM.
I usually don't like routines. It's just so boring.
Other than that, i made a call to Singapore, waited 30min plus in a few calls for the Streamyx Customer Service, made a call to Tropicana and write a few formulas on XML. That's practically what i did today.
I haven't been online for the past few days because my modems broke down on me. All three of the modems broke down on the same effing day. Even my backup modem, the Streamyx Official Modem broke down. The existing one could not boot up and the Streamyx one could not establish a coonection with the DSL line. I had to fork out RM108 to get myself a new D-Link 4Port modem router just to come home and find that i forgotten my effing password which i had change a few months back. Has to make a million calls to Tm Nut before they answer the phone. They basically do not need any knowledge to work on the hotline because they have a guidebook or a flowchart i do not know. Here is how it goes
1. Have you made a direct connection? Yes - Proceed No - Ask customer to perform one.
3. Perform Direct Connection Success - Router Problem Fail - Proceed
2. Open up CMD and ping 127.0.0.1 Success - Proceed Fail - Restart Modem
3. Type IPConfig /all and see the IP Success - Proceed Fail - Restart NIC
4. If still cannot Reset port/report/wait for technician
Follow the guidebook and you can solve everybody's problem. I think the main thing is not to solve the problem but to just provide a service for the customers to listen to the annoying music while waiting for a human soul to pick up a phone that will try to solve your bloody problem for you so that you feel satisfied because the service is provided.
Enough of that rant.
On to another topic, Have anyone of you tarcian recieve an email about the Aunty that sells Wan Tan Noodles over at SPL in Genting Klang? I always like to eat her noodles because she makes a generous portion. But after recieving this mail, i felt sorry for her.
Apparently, her husband was admitted into hospital and she has a hard time making a living to support herself and pay the medical fees for her husband. It's really sad to see her like that. So i hope maybe tarcians living around setapak could go buy her stall and order a plate of noodles. She had to turn to the loan sharks for money. She's already in her 70's and she has to work so hard. Sometimes life is just unfair.
==================== Special Notice:
Event: Microsoft Malaysia Imagine Cup Finals Date: 19th May 2009, Tuesday Time: 10am - 1pm Venue: Sunway Pyramid Convention Centre
It's happening guys! The Imagine Cup Finals. I wonder what impressive ideas i will see there. I really hope to attend but i think i won't be able to. I am really impressed but a lot of the ideas that my coursemates have came up with to reach the finals for the college level. But this is on a whole new level because it includes other students from whole Malaysia. It is gonna be very exciting!
Head to YouTube to see a lot of samples from the past winners and contestants. Fantastic ideas i tell you.
Well, i guess i'll stop here. I just got connected to the web like two hours ago. Am real happy to be back online. Haha
Windows 7 RC or release candidate was announce by Microsoft which became available to the public on the 5th of May. Release candidate means that the software could well be a version of the final product that will be launched in 2010. When the beta for Windows 7 first released, i managed to download but i never had the time to play with it due to exams and then i just got lazy. So when this came out, i went ahead and downloaded a copy and got my key to the product.
Although this is a release candidate, it is not really advised to run it as your primary operating system. So either you can install it in a different partition, creating to OS environment or you could just use a virtualization software. The current best software out there for home users would be the VMWare workstation.
What this software does is it allows you to boot up any OS with the expense of taking up a small amount of space in your hard disk and also you ram. So you can run two OS simultaneously. One thing to be noted is if you are running a 32-bit OS, you can not run a 64-bit version on the VMWare. You can only run it when your base OS is 64-bit.
And if you do not have enough memory to spare, you would be suffering as even i allocated 2GB of ram to the virtual machine, it still lags pretty badly. Maybe because i do not have a good cpu. A quad core processor would run it perfectly. Well, anyhow, it's no harm to try it out. Just to test and see the looks and feel of it.
Here we go. If the pictures are too small, you could always drop by to my flickr page.
Here's the VMWare configuration page. We need to power the virtual machine on !
When i first turn it on, it's quite fast when booting even as a virtual machine. I was quite impressed with it. Usually vista takes a minute or two.
Here's the main windows ! If you notice, there are no more tabs on the taskbar when you open programs or windows. Instead they are replaced by icons. Although sometimes i do prefer to read the name of the program or task that i am about to switch to. It practically has a explorer/library function when you open a folder. You can actually categorize your files in the different forms and it can be located no matter where the file is in the computer as long as it's in the library. Just like using a media player.
For paint lovers, there's your new interface. All sorts of new stuffs you can do!
The version that is currently out is the ultimate version. So you would have access to all the functions available. The new IE 8 as in display!
Logging off.
The Verdict.
I'm not too sure about what to say because i'm running it as a virtual machine and at times it's kinda slow. But it definitely looks promising. It looks and feels like Vista but it's different in terms of efficiency and also organizing data. There are loads of other features that i did not have the time to explore. But if all comes well, as in no software compatibility problems, it would definitely be the next big thing after Windows XP!
This is definitely something to look forward to.
On other stuffs, i've been cleaning and reorganizing my PC both physically and innerly, shall i say. I've move my PC from bottom to top. Mostly because i felt it need more fresh air and i need more space under my table.
It looks kinda messy. My PC takes up half of the space on my table. I may plan to reshift it again but don't know to where. I might just bring out one of the tables as study table outside in the living room and have one as my PC table in the room.
This is how my Vista looks now. Just for the heck of it. Although my CPU still burns at 50Celcius even on idle mode. But it looks nice. Lol.
After seeing a few of my friends taking time to blog about their internship experience daily. I too am considering doing it. I don't have internet connection at my work place and to have one i would have to apply for it because working in a place like a bank, you need Black and White. But it's a good practice to write about what happen so that the next time, i can ponder back and see all the bad and the good from this experience.
I guess i'll be heading to bed.
And oh yea. The results of the Manchester Derby. How could i forget.
Manchester United 2 - 0 Manchester City.
Goals from Ronaldo and Tevez saw Manchester United sink Manchester City in this exciting derby match. United was superb in the first half but started poorly in the second half, making Sir Alex Ferguson made some changes which saw Ronaldo substituted for Scholes. He did not understand the decision of the Gaffer and threw a tantrum. Overall it was a great game, superb performance by Nemanja Vidic. You could hear the stadium chanting his name and singing Nemanja, Ohh! With Ferdinand, Carrick by the sidelines, it was a solid performance by United that brought them back to the top of the table. And by next saturday against Arsenal, provided a win is achieved on the weekdays against Wigan. United may be looking at a 18th and second consecutive League Trophy.
Which is today but now is just 12.48. I just came back from futsal and i'm tired as hell but i'm not sure i'll be able to sleep well. I need to wake up by 6.35 and i hope i am able to make it. Furthermore, Man Utd game against Arsenal later. Hope for the best. Glory Glory ! Off to bed now, good nite guys. and something worth mentioning.
Happy Birthday to my Twin! haha..Well, i mean Happy Birthday to Mon Ping ! May you have a blessed birthday!
I'm about to go to bed. Tomorrow's Monday. Yea, dreadful Monday. I hate Mondays, no wonder people feel suicidal on Mondays.
Internship has been quite alright, got hands-on on Unix and XML. Been to the new system's reporting training. Learning how to use the reporting functions. Fyi, the IT Department i'm currently in is in charge of the treasury. So, most of the terms used are like technical jargon to me. No idea. It's been two weeks, ended April quite satisfied with myself. Here comes May.
And is anyone feeling lazy to bother about college work? Although i miss the times that i could just skip lecture, and wake up late, i don't have the "oomph" to do my Final Year Project stuffs. That's why my supervisor said, most of the students that went to training usually come back having more stuffs to do. Because working life and studying life is different.
For some reason i am fascinated by how when i type on the keyboard and the words "magically" appear on the screen. Makes me wanna keep on typing. Lol.
I missed a few things to blog about, especially my 21st birthday post, and lots of stuffs. Hmm, and some issues, and, emo stuffs and, yea, the swine flu.
Swine flu alert, hope most of you read the newspaper as it has reached Phase 5, which means a pandemenic is imminent. So please all of my friends and families please do take care. Stay away from pork for a while and if possible, try not to travel.
