What's new this week

I've been trying to finish up a book i bought. Have two books and only am halfway through one. It's called The Alexandria Link by Steve Berry.

An extract from the book

The Library of Alexandria was the most important collection of ancient knowledge ever assembled. The building stood for six hundred years and contained more than half a million manuscripts. Then suddenly it vanished. No trace of this literary treasure has ever been unearthed.

Fifteen hundred years after the library's disappearance, Cotton Malone finds himself at the heart of the mystery. His son is kidnapped, and his bookshop is attacked-all because he's the only man alive who knows the whereabouts of the Alexandria Link, the key to locating the missing library. Purposely hidden away for more than a millennium, a forgotten truth lies within that lost cache of knowledge - one that, if revealed, will have grave consequences not only for Malone but for the balance of world power.
I just love reading books that has mystery, adventure, treasure hunting, the hidden secrets and myths. I thought after Harry Potter, no book can ever give me the thrill and joy *Yes, i'm a potter maniac*. I was just exaggerating. I kinda like how Steve Berry writes the story, the way he puts the action in words that makes your imagination run wild.

I have another book, which is called the Seven Deadly Wonders. I always have been fascinated by the ancient seven wonders which is

* Great Pyramid of Giza
* Hanging Gardens of Babylon
* Statue of Zeus at Olympia
* Temple of Artemis at Ephesus
* Mausoleum of Maussollos at Halicarnassus
* Colossus of Rhodes
* Lighthouse of Alexandria

I was always curious on how they were built, the history behind it, it's all so interesting. Especially the Hanging Gardens of Babylon. I don't really understand why they call it the Handing Gardens, it always has been a mystery to me, even after countless illustrations by artist. The Statue of Zeus on the other hand is a magnificent wonder. I have always been interested in greek mythology. Zeus, Poseidon, Apollo are all great gods. Plus watching Hercules since young and believing almost every bit of it just makes me want to know more.

But now, the world has came out with the New Seven Wonders which are

Great Wall of China
Petra
Christ the Redeemer (statue)
Machu Picchu
Chichen Itza
Taj Mahal
Great Pyramid

These are the wonders where you can still see with you eyes unlike the ancient wonders. They are all really fascinating and i hope one day, i will be able to visit all of them. I wanna be like Indiana Jones!

Until then, i shall stick to reading my book.

Last but not least, i will share with you guys the song that has been playing in my mind for the past few days.

Will-i-am - Heartbreaker

Cheers.

Awkwardness

Sometimes, i wonder how people with big social ties manage their social life. Especially friends. I find myself at times getting very attached to friends, no i don't mean clingy, i tend to care to much. How they think about me, how they treat me, how i treat them, when they are in need of help, i would lend a hand.

For me, it always comes to a point where i start to be afraid to care, because, i care to much at times that it inserts a gap between the friendship. I used to be very sensitive, like even normal friends i would treat them like family, and them i would try to insert my evil thoughts in to them, controlling them to become mindless zombies that would be only MY friend.

Yes, i was like that, well, not the insert evil thoughts part but i would tend to get jealous at times, especially people close to me get closer with other people, especially people i know, i felt betrayed, somehow like, you took away my friend, while you are my friend, you friend snatcher !

I felt that way before, and i could not control myself, it was like i had too much of soya milk. Makes me feel all girly. But it hurts so much, when you know you gone too far, and from that moment onwards, the friendship we shared will never be the same again.

If i said i've changed now, i believe i have. I've become not so involved in other people's life, i tend to not ask too much, because you lead your own life though at times i'm still a little nosy. Thus, i have a lot of hi-bye friends too.

My friend, i have always wanted to be included in your circle but now, i'm outside your circle, observing you and your friends in the circle, only to be invited in when asked. It's awkward, to feel this way, when we used to be close before, sharing everything with each other.

We live a different life now, our own to manage, though i'm glad we still talk and have a lil time to spare for each other.

If i would have a chance to turn back time, i would. It was better in the past.

or is this just because we've outgrown each other.

Cheers, my friend.

The Final Showdown

May 11 2008, it all ends.

The Barclays Premier League is closing to the final stages and the competition is as fierce as ever with Manchester United and Chelsea tied in first place but Manchester United leading with a big goal difference.

Chelsea fades away~

Tomorrow Manchester United will be up against Wigan and Chelsea against Bolton. They will be played at the same time which is 11pm Malaysian time. Tomorrow, all players will be on top of their game for the final battle, all fans will be the 12th player for their respective teams to cheer them on.

I'm so excited.
Not this year Chelsea, Not this year!

Wigan's boss, Steve Bruce vows that his team will give 100% against United tomorrow but he also asked Chelsea to forget about the title.

I'm so so excited.

Revenge.

Two weeks later, Manchester United will again face Chelsea for the ultimate final showdown for the UEFA Champions League cup in Moscow! Speculations say that since Russia is home to Roman Abromovich which is Chelsea's owner, they will certainly win the cup.

I doubt that.

On that day, i will be in my red jersey, cheering hard for my team, watch out Chelsea.

Glory glory Manchester United !

Up And Posting..Again

It's been a long time since i last blogged. As some may experience this wierd after effect of blogging call boredome-ness. Well, for me, i seem to be not the only one suffering from that virus as you can easily see, there are thousands of blogs out there left unattended to after a while ! So i guess you can say that it's normal.

It was actually a friend of mine who "beg" me to update my blog again *just kidding*. I shall be kind to reveal her identity - She's joe-lene from joe-lene.blogspot.com. Well, technically we've known each other for years now since our parents know each other and etc etc. She's in Aussie now and she's been complaining about the lack of nutrition (as in Char Kuay Teow, Asam Laksa, Hokkien Mee etc etc) to her daily diet. So i'm here to show her how much she is missing back here in Penang although it seems like she's really enjoying there without needing any nutrition at all.

But today i only have this.

Porridge with tuna and mushrooms and crabsticks.

How did i ended up in that is because i've been sick for the past few days. I had FluVerSoreThroatPhlegmHeadache. You get the point. So no Char Kuay Teow or Hokkien Mee or Curry Mee for this week, just plain non solid food and lots of water. It's only been one and a half week since i came back to Penang for semester break and i'm already down with all kinds of sickness due to food consumed in the first week back here and the following week i had to suffered. It wasn't worth it clearly as i only have two more weeks before Advance Diploma starts.

And yea, i've graduated from Diploma. The last semester was quite a hectic one in terms of workload though we do not have final exams *buahahahaha* because we were busy creating a system for our final mini project. I only had two subjects which is the mini project and English for Science. Sounds easy eh? Sounds but not quite.

Moving on, my mom has returned from Europe. She has been travelling around Europe since April and has been to 8 countries including Rome, Switzerland, Austria, Czech Republic, Holland, Germany, Belgium and France. It wasn't like staying in 5 star hotels and eating meals in restaurant. She went backpacking for short. It was kinda tough having to travel on your own, well she went with 6 others, and having one meals per day or cook as it was expensive to eat out. It cost RM60 for a meal of mcdonalds.

Don't sue me, but i just can't afford to have a RM60 meal !

Well, it's like that because when the almighty Ringgit Malaysia is convert to Euros, it turns to small atoms.

Mom even went to Amsterdam. Most of you should know what's in Amsterdam when drugs and prostitution are legal in Holland *smiles wickedly*. It's the well known Red Light District !

Image from travelblog

If you've watched Euro Trip, then you'd be familiar with it. Mom was there actually, looking around, she said the town was dirty and she didn't like it because of the activities there. I could not agree more *drools*.

Mom brought back some souvenirs though. In my heart i was shouting and screaming "IPhone ! IPhone !" . I wasn't expecting one but surprises are known to come right? She didn't get me an IPhone *sobs* but she got me this -

Swiss Knife with my name on it.

A Victorinox swiss knife! It's a portable killing machine and the best part is, it has my name on it so when i perform my work, they will know my name !! I sound like a serial killer. Every man has his secrets, hmm. I've been wanting a swiss knife for ages now because it's so cool and it's very useful during travelling and hiking etc.

My Cool List
Stuffs from Sony, Apple, Intel, NVidia, Microsoft, Creative, Nikon, Canon.

I'm a gadget freak.

Anyway, that's not the only thing she came back with. She brought stuffs from disneyland, the peeing boy from Brussels.
This peeing boy.

It's real name is called mannekan pis and it's the most famous fountain in Brussels. It actually has a history behind it. For more info check out wikipedia. Mom brought back miniatures mannekan pis. She even brought back pasta.

An ordinary pack of pasta from Rome,i think.

Nothing special eh? Well, take another look at it.

Find the hidden mickey!

It's hilarious when i first saw it. It was unique. Now guys and girls can have it and not be shy about it !

La grande pasta.

Still unsure about it? Yes ! It is the male reproductive organ. *-____-*
