Technews roundup

G-Shock Gulfman

Over the weekend, i've got myself a new watch. I've always wanted to get a watch because my previous one went in for surgery and never came back. That was like 5 years ago. So, i went watch shopping and decided i get this.

G-Shock Gulfman

I like the watch because of the rugged styling and it's the perfect guy watch for outdoor and stuffs.It features a tide graph which keep tracks of the tide level and a moon graph which keep tracks of the phase of the moon. You have to set the coordinates to be accurate. Furthermore, it also has world time, 3 alarms, a stopwatch and a timer. It also has auto EL where with a flick of the wrist, the light on the watch will turn on.

Built wise, it has rust resist where part of the watch body is made of titanium, G-Shock shock proof and 20 bar water resistance which means 200M. Not suitable for diving though.

Overall i find the watch very useful and durable. I still haven't managed to set the tide and the moon graph though.

Microsoft Windows 7 _______. What!?

Microsoft has announce the versions of the upcoming Windows 7. There will be 6 of them which are (source from engadget):

Windows 7 Starter

* Available worldwide to OEMs on new PCs
* Missing Aero UI tweaks
* Limited to 3 simultaneous applications

Windows 7 Home Basic (Vista equivalent: $200)

* Only available in emerging markets
* Missing Aero UI tweaks

Windows 7 Home Premium (Vista equivalent: $260)

* Available worldwide, to OEMs and in retail
* Includes Aero UI tweaks
* Features multi-touch capabilities
* Adds "premium" games
* Adds media capabilities (Media Center, DVD playback, DVD creation, etc.)
* Can create home network groups

Windows 7 Professional (Vista equivalent: $300)

* Available worldwide, to OEMs and in retail
* Includes all features of Premium
* Adds enhanced networking capabilities (Remote Desktop host, domain support, offline folders, etc.)
* Adds Mobility Center
* Adds Presentation Mode

Windows 7 Enterprise

* Available only in volume licenses
* Includes all features of Professional
* Adds Branch Cache
* Adds Direct Access
* Adds BitLocker

Windows 7 Ultimate (Vista equivalent: $320)

* Limited OEM and retail availability
* Includes all features of Enterprise

IMO, why can't they have only two versions? The home and the professional. Wouldn't it make life much more easier? Furthermore, to actually encourage users to switch to Windows 7, although there are positive reviews from the beta, it must be backward compatible and will not have problems supporting the softwares that previous windows supported. Because of the incompatibility, a lot of users refused to switch to Vista. It's a different story now, although some games still refuse to corporate with Vista. Windows 7 must make it easy for user to convert, that will be the critical point of success as it already performs well in the beta tester.

New iPhone rumored, due June 2009.

True or false?

There is no exact proof over how true this can be but it is rumored that there will be a new iPhone from the fellas at Cupertino. Probably during June because summer is the time when Apple will usually introduce new products. It is said that the iPhone will have new features over the old features, which i hope this would be some it:

MMS capability
Copy and Paste
Bluetooth sharing
Video capture
Video call
Better megapixel camera

There is even rumors about an iPhone nano. I wonder.

I'm still waiting to get my hands on one. There's a thing about technology where it is limitless, new stuffs keep emerging everyday and it's difficult to catch up with all. I've been waiting for the iPhone since 2G and now with this new rumor, i am reluctant to get the iPhone. Should i wait? By the time i get enough cash, i bet the new one would be out. Or not.

Current Wanted List

Here are a few items i would want to get my hands on.

  1. Rams (4GB Kits)

    Since my Crucial Ballistix Tracer died on me again. Second time. I am considering 2X2GB sticks. I now have 2X1GB patriot and 2X1GB Ballistix Tracer but am running only on 2GB patriot rams. Am considering 2X2GB Kingston HyperX which cost around RM230.

  2. Graphic Card

    I keep telling myself i gotta upgrade this, gotta start saving money. Am waiting for the price of 260GTX to go down. Or maybe settle for a ATI HD4870. By upgrading the card, i would have to upgrade my power supply to support the additional power needed. The estimated cost would be around RM1K? If you really want to play games with good graphics, never settle for a mid-range card, it's just not satisfying enough, just like my 8600GTs.

  3. HDD

    The endless number of series, movies and ISOs are killing me. i need an additional portable HDD. 1TB should be sufficient. In other news, Seagate has introduced it's first 2TB HDD. Woot!
On the dreamer's list, an i7 system. That would definitely be awesome.

My interview is approaching soon and i'm nervous/excited. I really hope i can get the job. Wish me luck !

I guess that's all for now. Still trying to find a solution to my boredomness. Watched house and played Fifa Online today. I also bought Fifa 09 today. I think i shall just read Steve Berry's The Venetian Betrayal.

Until then.
